I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in creative writing and classics and a minor in art history, which gave me a good excuse to excavate in Italy, read lots of mythology, and learn languages both living and dead. After a few years of teaching, traveling, and freelance writing both stateside and abroad, I earned an MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh. I have valuable experience as a full-time classroom educator and personal tutor for students ranging from fifth grade through college. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is sharing my love for literature, writing, and languages while building personal relationships with learners. My goal as a tutor is not only to help my students understand concepts but meaningfully engage with them so it's clear not only why we study certain disciplines, but why they matter--and hopefully have some fun in the process, too! When I'm not tutoring or working on my own writing, I love hiking, reading, and searching for the Bay Area's best tiramisu.
