Q & A

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Quizzing is essential to measuring mastery of material, as that is how most schools will assess the students. Non-traditional quiz methods are my preferred technique to verify whether a student understands the material with confidence.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I typically use pen/pencil, paper, and some practice questions or problems. Whether we are discussing a novel, reviewing math questions, or analyzing a historical text, proposing thoughts and different strategies is always a present theme in learning.
