Hello! My name is Erin Norman and I am very excited to be working with you in the area of math. I have been teaching at the elementary level for five years now and also have experience tutoring at the college level in the areas of elementary mathematics and calculus. Math is a passion of mine and I love helping students to make the connections between the work in front of them and how it is going to be useful in the real world so that students can find meaning in all of these various equations. I love to make math fun and I look forward to working with you so that you can develop the same passion or understanding for it as I have.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

When it comes to teaching, I believe in presenting a student with a variety of methods to solving a problem so that they have a higher success rate of being able to master the concept. I do not believe that there is only one way to solve a problem. I like to show students various methods so that they can choose what works best for them.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session with a student, I typically take time to get to know the student, and allow them to ask me questions as well so that we are both in a comfortable environment. I like to take the time to have discussions so that I can better understand the student's ways of thinking and their ways of learning.
