I am an undergraduate from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacological Chemistry and a certified pharmacy technician. The defining theme of my education was the values and ideas of Eleanor Roosevelt. My general education from Eleanor Roosevelt College allowed me to gain an international understanding and explore my own identity and commitments as a global citizen.
Although I do not have a lot of experience tutoring outside of my coursework, but you will find that my experience in the classroom is adequate. I find it essential to understand everyone’s point of view when approaching a problem because it’ll help to solve and comprehend the concept or idea better. My education has taught me how to approach problems from all angles and also finally understand a concept. I believe in the idea that if you cannot explain a concept to someone then you truly do not understand it to begin with. It is better to understand how things work instead why they work.
My coursework at UC San Diego includes the following:
• Laboratory: Analytical Chemistry, Animal Physiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Protein Biochemistry
• Class work: Biochemical Structure and Function, Biosynthesis of Macromolecules, Human Physiology, Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physical Chemistry, Introduction to Differential Equations, Calculus and Analytic Geometry, Physics (Electricity, Magnetism, Waves, Optics, Relativity, and Quantum), Microeconomics, Spanish
Aside from my coursework, I made it an effort to get an education outside of the classroom. Last year, I joined Alternative Breaks to volunteer in the Dominican Republic through Service for Peace. Our main focus on this trip was youth education and healthcare. We did this by creating a weeklong lesson plan to provide the students of a local school in the Dominican Republic a more health conscientious education. This year I have continued participating in Alternative Breaks as a community advisor and went to Wai’anae, Hawaii to learn more about drug and alcohol rehabilitation through cultural alternatives.
Throughout college, I have worked efficiently alongside many people to plan large-scale projects and also smaller personal projects. I am a dedicated and hard working individual who is not afraid to ask questions when needed and venture on my own to solve problems through trail and error. With my experience in studying abroad and volunteering, I have gained the ability to think clearly and dependently to be self-efficient and devoted to long-term projects.
My future goal is to attend graduate school to learn more about pharmaceutical sciences and earn my MSPS. I want to apply what I have learned from my education and travels to provide the best healthcare I possible can to others.
