Hi! My name is Jack, and I'd love to learn with you! First, a little tutoring background on me.
I have had extensive experience in teaching that enables me to effectively convey information to my students, providing them with social support and nurturing them as students in the process. In high school, I served as a religious school teacher for 4 years—greatly enhancing my skills as an educator. Although this was not an academic teaching position, I did develop and teach a religious curriculum for my students, involving how to read and write Hebrew and a general overview of Jewish holidays, traditions, and religious/cultural teachings. As a teacher, I learned how to effectively communicate and impart information onto my students, while fostering personalized relationships with them based on their individual interests. My classroom environment enabled students to feel safe and comfortable voicing their opinions because I portrayed myself as a cool, supportive role-model type of teacher. This role-model style involved me supporting and rewarding students for their successes and insights, while providing constructive, empathetic feedback for what they need to improve on. Outside of the classroom, I developed these skills in my later years of high school by tutoring various students of different ages in school subjects. As an individual tutor, I learned how to personalize my lessons to my students interests, giving them an opportunity to feel exciting about learning. By connecting learning with something my students liked, I was able to help them learn more efficiently and thoroughly—they would complete tasks/homework eagerly and without complaints. From both teaching in an academic setting and individual tutoring, I have learned the skills required to best communicate and impart knowledge onto students, fostering in them a love for learning that I possess.
Now, a little bit on me as a person! Outside of school, I love talking philosophy, listening to music (all types!), experiencing all the outdoors has to offer, and running. I am also passionate about cooking, experiencing visual art, watching, writing, and talking about films, reading, and having deep conversations with friends. Seriously, I love to learn, discuss, argue, critique, and all that fun stuff—if you're similarly minded, I'm sure we'll have a great time together. Literature-wise, I adore Kafka, Vonnegut, and Salinger, but Socrates will always be my number one man. I am a devout vegetarian, and if you want to talk with me about my beliefs on eating animals, I am always eager!
