Hello Everyone! My name is Scott and I am a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. So as you may expect from that kind of background, my specialties in tutoring focus on Math and Science. For most of my college career, I volunteered to tutor high school students in regular and advanced-level math and physics. I also helped many students with their preparation for the ACT/SAT Math exams.
When it comes to teaching, I like to keep problems and concepts as visual as possible since that is how I learned. I like to show and demonstrate ideas to students and not just tell them. I may guide you very closely through a problem or idea at your own pace initially, but I will never give you the answer; I expect you to find it on your own. Ultimately, I want to teach you the how and why a concept works, not just the what. You will gain a firm grasp of the idea and will retain the concept more easily.
Outside of tutoring I have a several hobbies. I love to play intramural sports and was varsity in four sports during high school. My best sport was/is swimming where I was all-state in the 100 yd Butterfly. I also love all of the Colorado professional teams, but I love college sports even more (Go Blue!). I am a big movie and t.v. nerd, which makes me a great partner at trivia night. I enjoy reading books of most genres in my spare time, and I enjoy working with my hands on DIY projects.
