Hi! My name is Megan Zink and I am an elementary school teacher. For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about helping others learn and grow within the education field. My teaching philosophy includes three major aspects of education: maximizing individual student performance and self-worth, utilizing music and the arts in the schools, and instilling a love of learning within each student. In addition to this philosophy, my passion is to create an environment where students are encouraged to learn through student-centered instruction, which provides learning opportunities where students are able to finally grasp a concept and fosters a love of education for many years to come.
I recently finished my Elementary Education degree with endorsements in early childhood education and special education at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. I also completed a music minor where I participated in choirs and other various ensembles. I have student taught in classrooms from kindergarten to 2nd grade, spanning the globe from Washington state to Namibia, Africa. In Spring 2015, I was able to study abroad in Namibia, Africa for five months. During my time in Windhoek, Namibia, I student taught in a kindergarten and taught in an elementary after-school program. Through my time abroad, I realized I want to teach internationally when I graduate and develop my teaching in a global setting.
I am a driven and passionate teacher, always thinking about the student as a whole and how I can utilize new strategies to give my students the best opportunities to learn. I believe in creating a lively and positive classroom community by not only focusing on the academics, but also drawing on global awareness and musical perspectives. Along with teaching in a school-based setting, I have plenty of experience tutoring students in all the core subjects. My tutoring experience includes private tutoring with children needing an extra push to reach grade level and beyond, and working with SunnyEd, an online tutoring company. In SunnyEd, we tutored 3rd grade students in math through an online-Skype platform. Teaching has and always will be my passion and I can’t wait to share it with you. Thank you!

I absolutely love music! I like all types of music, but I participate more in choral activities and singing. I also love swimming, hiking, reading, and exploring new places with my friends.
