I have a Masters degree in French Literature and have spent time abroad studying at the Sorbonne University and attending teaching methodology seminars at the Alliance Française, Paris. Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching and tutoring is a learning experience on both sides, it is an exchange. I work to tailor my approach to each student and their individual learning style.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I like to do some assessments in the first session do get an idea of the students current level and overall goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I have always taught and tutored based on HOW I LEARNED a subject myself. It is important to be conscious of what does and does not work for the individual student. Developing a personal system of learning is vital to a student's success.
