What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to be patient and never give up on a student. If they reach out to me for help, I will give them my 100%.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Assess strengths and weaknesses, and go over their goals for the school year or semester, such as a certain grade they want to achieve, or test score they want to reach.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
To become an independent learner you need to be able to understand the material without any outside help. I will make sure that I encourage students to offer their own thoughts and solutions first, before providing corrections or instruction.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I will help a student stay motivated by making sure the sessions are engaging. In order to do so I will integrate concept reviews, problem sets, and practice exams.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Repetition is key for difficult concepts. I will never abandon a concept if a student is struggling with it. I will make sure they stay positive and remain patient until I feel that they fully understand what they're being taught.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
There are several different ways to improve reading comprehension. I will work on finding which method works best for the student.
