Who doesn't have memories of at least one or two teachers who have had a positive impact on his or her life? My own memories of favorite teachers were part of my inspiration to enter the field of education.
I liked Math from an early age, and discovered that I was good at explaining it to others, so it was natural to make it a career.
I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a major in Mathematics and minor in English, then took my graduate year at UCB to earn my teaching credential.
I also teach Nutrition; I have a 700-hour certificate from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition.
I have had a long teaching career, including 12 years of one-on-one tutoring. Teaching one-on-one is a very personal activity; it is a cooperative experience with give and take happening on both sides. And when the student is making progress and feels a sense of accomplishment, it is very fulfilling.
