I received my B.A. with a double major in Math and Music from U.N.T. Denton, Texas before spending four years working full-time towards my M.S. in Math at Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. I
hold a teaching certification for Texas that includes grades 6-12 in Math.
I have 20 years of experience with the software package Mathematica, and literally thousands of files ranging from Abstract Algebra to Statistics to music theory and computer music composition. I have over 30 years of experience working with high school and college students as both a tutor an teacher. My best subject is math, and I am sharpest in AP Calculus AB and college-level calculus,
trigonometry, pre-calculus, algebra I, algebra II, and geometry.
The absolute best part of tutoring is helping students find their “aha” moments while learning the material. We usually start by working on a sample problem together, and I support my student when they are lost. As we go through questions together, I will remove support so the student will take on more and more of the problem solving. If a student gets stuck, I’ll give hints or help that will help bridge
My ultimate goal is for your student to no longer need me because they have the confidence and know-how to do the work themselves. I am kind and patient (and humble lol). During the 30 years of my experience with mathematics, I have felt the frustration of at one time failing a math class. I persevered and finally got an A. I can empathize with the frustrated student and encourage him/her to overcome their obstacles.
