I am a composer, writer and recent graduate of Harvard University with almost a decade (9 years) of tutoring experience. As a teacher, I try to go beyond helping a student learn specific material; I will use whatever subject we are studying as a platform to give students the skills and self-confidence to become self-reliant, lifelong learners. While tangible results and mastery of the material are central goals, it is just as important to me that students grow as learners through the tutoring process. For this reason, I approach tutoring as a dialogue. Students can expect sessions to be a joint investigation of the material, not as a list of facts to memorize but as a coherent whole to be gradually understood. Through this process the student will achieve a deeper, lasting comprehension of the material.
