Bonjour, bonsoir! Permettez-moi de me présenter. Let me introduce myself. My name is Tahnee and I'm a French tutor from Canada, married to a Frenchman. I lived in Toulouse, France for 14 years.
In Toulouse, I taught school-aged European children in elementary and high school academic French to help them keep up with their studies, excel in exams and feel comfortable speaking in any environment and about any topic. We worked on grammar (I know how to make verb tenses seem easy!), speaking in formal and informal situations, and understanding different French accents. Yes, the French accent changes whether you come from Paris, the North, the SouthEast or the SouthWest! I can also help you understand written French with better ease, or write successful essays using essential transition and connecting words to structure and link ideas.
In addition, my teaching experience in France, Canada and in the DC area extends to tutoring corporate professionals from multinational corporations, helping them take part more effectively in business meetings with key jargon, correspond by email and by telephone using standard expressions and idioms, and with proper etiquette, or engage with confidence in small talk and negotiations.
I create motivating language lessons, focused on interactive communication with fun and compelling techniques. Learning is most meaningful when topics are relevant to the students’ lives, needs and interests and when the students themselves are strongly engaged in creating authentic language, understanding and connecting to the subjects they encounter.
I hold BA in International Relations and a CELTA Certificate from Cambridge.
My students compliment me on being a skilled, dedicated and effective tutor that really cares about their learning progress. I would love to help you achieve your goals today.
