My interest in collaborating with others began when I was a child. Growing up, I liked to assemble the neighborhood friends together and we would spend the entire day running around. We'd play sports like basketball and would choreograph dances together. Thus, I knew how to work in teams and create tactics with others.
After graduating high school, I found myself tutoring at Ruth O. Harris Middle School. I worked with AVID, which assists students in their pathway to college. I helped students find proper resources, create harder-level questions to boost their learning, and helped them summarize their work. I believe that summarizing is one of the most important steps when trying to understand a problem. However, it is also important to understand the student and their ways of learning. Every student learns at different paces and through various strategies (either by visual learning, hands-on approaches, or lecture). Thus, my interest in collaboration became my opportunity to help individual students understand difficult problems.
I am currently attending California State University of San Bernardino, focusing on communications and marketing. Although I'm not learning to become a teacher, I believe that everyone has the ability to teach and help others grow. I enjoy seeing students progress in their studies and get excited about their higher grades. That is why I am tutoring.
