As a previous high school English teacher and community college writing instructor, and now a PhD in Education and Human Development, I take great pleasure in supporting people toward accomplishing their various learning goals. My expertise are in English/Language Arts, such as essay writing and reading comprehension. I have additional expertise in college-readiness skills - including college essay writing and study skills - and supporting high school students through the college-application process. Further, I have taught university courses in Adolescent Development and Educational Evaluation.
I have worked with students who range from middle school age to 55, in both the classroom and in a tutoring capacity. Students generally describe me as someone who is caring, available, attentive, and effective in supporting their learning.
Currently, I conduct education research for SRI International in the San Francisco Bay Area. I work closely with middle and high school teachers, supporting their efforts to improve instruction and make learning more engaging and attentive to diverse student needs. Aside from work, I love hiking, trail running, and making delicious and healthy food for people I love.
