I believe that my job as a tutor is to provide a student with a plethora of learning approaches, and then to help the student determine which approach—or combination of approaches—works best. In addition, I strive always to keep an open mind—to remember not only that different students learn differently, but also that an individual student’s learning style may change over time.
I graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2010 and from Syracuse University with a master’s degree in Creative Writing in 2015. Before attending Syracuse, I worked as a tutor for Signet Education in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I worked with high school, college, and hospital-bound students in the greater Boston area, and I accrued over 300 hours of tutoring experience.
I also have classroom teaching experience. While a graduate student at Syracuse, I taught Writing 105, an introductory course on the practices and principles of academic writing, and Writing 205, a sophomore-level course focused on critical research and inquiry. I am currently a lecturer in the English departments of St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College, both in Rochester, New York.
