Salutations, folks! My name is Igor (pronounce ee-gore) and I'm very glad to meet you. I graduated from UC San Diego this past June, where I received degrees in Economics and Political Science (High Honors). My honors thesis focused on the impacts of elections administration policies on political participation amongst nonwhite voters.
I decided to begin tutoring because of my passion for knowledge and education. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than learning and helping others learn in the process. While I enjoy sitting in a classroom and listening to instructors drone on for hours, I know this isn't the case with everyone. For example--my two younger brothers who I have tutored in numerous subject areas throughout their entire school careers. Additionally, I have served in both official and impromptu (e.g. leading group study sessions) tutoring capacities during high school and college, with a particular emphasis on the humanities and social sciences.
If you're looking for someone with expertise in AP exams, general SAT and SAT subject tests, writing (academic and non-academic), history, government, economics, statistics, Spanish, Russian, geography AS WELL AS the passion and dedication to make learning these subjects engaging (and more likely to lead to better test scores), then drop me a line to set up a tutoring session! I can meet you wherever is convenient for you, have a ton of test prep materials at my disposal, and promise to tailor my lessons to your specific needs.
It was great to meet you. Looking forward to chatting soon!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that there's no such thing as a bad student. Growing up, I switched schools a lot and had the privilege of seeing many teaching environments. I realized that some students adapted easily to different instructional styles, while others needed time to adapt. To me, it is the job of a tutor to get to know his/her students and learn their unique preferences. By getting to know my students, I am able to deliver more effective tutoring and help set them up for success in the classroom and beyond.
