I am a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, a top 10 liberal arts school in the nation. I majored in psychology and Spanish Literature and learned the foundations of critical thinking, reading, and writing through rigorous academic scholarship. Upon graduation, I honed these skills not only in English but in Spanish as well, as I traveled extensively, mostly in Spanish-speaking countries, doing different educational activities, from making a documentary to teaching Spanish. Afterwards, I landed a job as a teacher in Guatemala and for three years, taught English and the social sciences for middle and high school students. It was a life affirming experience and showed me how much I loved teaching. After returning to the states, I used this realization to find English tutoring jobs for ESL students as well Spanish tutoring jobs for those wanting to learn this beautiful language.
I love tutoring the subjects I've chosen because I am passionate about language and history. I believe both are the gateways to a higher understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. Both enable us to be agents for our own lives, rather than objects to the world's whims.
Outside of the joy I get from helping students achieve their goals, I love music and am currently working on an album. I also enjoy playing basketball, tennis, soccer, and practicing yoga.
I look forward to hearing from you!
