Career Objective: To apply my best instructional leadership and mentoring skills in order to contribute to the knowledge and well-being of our students.

Philosophy: All people have within them the inherent capability and desire to achieve their academic, career, and life goals with excellence. It is the educator's role to provide these students with the tools and information necessary to achieve those goals and expose them with the opportunities that will assist achievement. In addition to providing invaluable tools and information, educators must also acknowledge each student's unique learning style and utilize his or her genuine interests as a catalyst to encourage the intrinsic motivation to learn. With an intrinsic motivation to learn, students will actively seek more information and opportunities on their own beyond the classroom and other formalized learning environments.

Mission Statement: As a Varsity Tutor, I hope to inspire students to be more proactive in their approach to learning and education by utilizing their personal interests to develop an engaging individualized tutoring plan.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Every student has the capability to learn. It is up to the teacher to provide a patient and comfortable learning environment, and utilize discernment to adapt to each learning style with flexibility.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Introductions, what are your academic goals, what are your career goals, what is your passion, how do each relate to each other, what is your current plan for after graduation (rough draft)? From there, I can insert the support I feel is necessary based on what has been communicated and how we can get these goals actualized.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By picking up on what fascinates them and providing resources for them to learn more about it. A curious learner can become an independent learner when provided the tools and support.
