Hi, my name is McKenna and I am so excited to be a tutor! I am recently completed my degree at Johns Hopkins University in Public Health with my pre-med concentration, with aspirations of going to medical school in the coming years. I currently work in health clinics in Guatemala. I have tutored elementary school aged kids all the way through college students in the past in all different kinds of subjects! Whether it be to master the material a few days before a big test, study for the upcoming standardized tests, or just need a little regular help for a subject, I am here to help everyone. I will help with anything you need to work on for your subject and we can work until the student is comfortable with the material.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I aim to work with students in a way where they understand what we are discussing, building up from the parts of a problem to being able to complete the whole problem.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

First get an understanding of what their strengths and weaknesses in the subject are so I can understand what we can work off of, and where we need to focus our time.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By getting them excited about what they are accomplishing, and building up to difficult problems. This will allow for small goals being accomplished until their confidence is built up so they can continue to succeed.
