When I was first thrown into the world of education, academia, and ultimately tutoring I didn't know really what to expect. Within my own education I found long nights studying literature, philosophy, and art history at the University of San Francisco where I was pursing my Bachelor's in English with an emphasis in writing. Before that I found even longer nights at University High School in Irvine where teachers pushed me, and peers challenged me to better myself not only academically but intrinsically as well. Both high school and college treated me well in their efforts to create a more well-rounded person. The only thing missing now, as we all must do one day, is give back to the world and create some sense of fulfillment within ourselves by attempting to brighten the lives of others. With the light that education brought me, I now strive to help other students find that light within themselves and hope they love learning more, not only about classes, but the world around them as well.
I first began by tutoring my younger brother's friends when I was in high school- helping out with just about everything they needed. I then began tutoring my peers in subjects like Honor's English and AP Literature- a place where my passions thrive. Although I have been tutoring for many years, I still need/needed extra help with math and science which are subjects where I work extra hard in. Being on both sides of things, having been both a tutor and the pupil, I understand the needs, frustrations, and desires of a student and how to best accommodate to them. Hopefully together we can make learning an enjoyable experience and get the grades to reflect that as well.
