I am passionate about serving students, creating space for the leadership of marginalized populations, and working toward social change and equity. I believe all students are capable of great academic achievement! Many times, students simply have gaps in their understanding of concepts and that can create self-doubt when it comes to more advanced concepts. As a tutor, my goal is to work with students to identify their gap areas so that more advanced concepts are accessible and students feel more confident and ready to tackle the challenges that come their way.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know the student! Find out what we have in common. I'd also use a few end-of-year test questions to gauge what concepts/learning objectives need support.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By helping students understand to identify their gaps in understanding, I can support the student’s effort to look for help in specific learning objective areas.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By tracking and showing progress throughout our sessions together!
