My passion for teaching began when I had my first child in 1997, in Monterrey, Mexico, my home town. Little did I know that I would become a Texas Certified Bilingual/ESL Elementary Teacher 3 years after my daughter's birth.
My 4 year experience at Northside and 3 year experience at North East Independent School District developed my skills for classroom management, teaching in diverse settings, adapting my lessons to different learning styles, creating rapport with children, teaching student centered style, but most of all... I learned that we need to have fun while we learn.
I have been a 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teacher. Some years I taught all content areas ( Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies ) in a bilingual setting ( English/ Spanish ), and other years in an all English setting.
After my experience as a teacher, I decided to venture off into owning my own business and built a drop-in daycare near 281 and Evans Rd. It was a challenging but rewarding experience. I directed the Afterschool Program, the Early Stimultion Program and tutored children in Math, Reading, Spanish and English as well as prepared students for the TAKS test now called the STAAR Test.
Currently, I am a the dual language 6th grade teacher at Bradley Middle School. I consider myself fortunate to teach World Cultures and Spanish Literacy to 123 students!
My favorite pass time is spending time with my 2 daughters and my 12 year old son, Miguel. My interests are practicing yoga, gardening, reading, cooking healty new recipies and almost any outdoor activity.
My motto in life is "Live Simlpy and Love Deeply." I believe we are in this planet to serve and leave the planet better than we found it doing what we love to do with the least complications.
Thank you for trusitng me with the very best you have at home ... your child. I hope to meet him or her soon! =)
