Depending on the nature of student and the concept, I would try to use creative examples to make him understand the concept

I will build a rapport with them, then use creative examples to explain the concepts.

Get feedback about their level of understanding in the subject, then evaluate them.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By assessments, summing up the points at the end of each session.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Different students have different level of understanding. Based on their level I will use different techniques and creative visualizations to tutor.

Images, flow charts, PowerPoints, white board, video clippings…
