"Life is a journey. It doesn't matter where you are going, or how you get there.
What matters is this: did you pay attention to the details, the little joys, the lessons?
Did you seek out pleasure and learn from the pain? Did you follow your heart more than your head?
Did you discover that when all was said and done, that all you've been striving for, searching for,
and living for has been right there in the mirror all along?
You are the journey, You are the life, You are the light. There is no greater
beauty, no greater love, no greater essence, than what is there inside your heart." By Lisa Murphy
Learning, just as life, is a journey. It is not always about the end result, or even how you get there. It is about the details, the tears & joy,how the dots are connected, are you having fun? I believe learning is a collaborative effort between the material, the student and the student's views on learning. Yes test scores & grades are important but not as important as what you are taking away from it all.
I am here to help you on this journey, to sit with you and find your strengths, areas of growth and where you might need a boost in your learning or area of study. I have 12-14 years of various tutoring experiences, from teaching a young child to read while originally tutoring her in math, to developing lesson plans in multiple subject areas for a special needs adolescent so he can have a high school experience, to editing papers in HS, college & graduate school & assisting in various other subjects. I have a Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Antioch University New England, and a BA in Psychology from Seattle University. I have a wide range of experiences in which to pull from, and provide individualized attention for each student. I believe learning is fun and to be enjoyed, and when its not, well that is where humor is extra important and necessary. I look forward to joining you on your journey.
