I have been an educator for over ten years, teaching standardized test prep (LSAT/GRE), English, writing, and math. I love tutoring since it lets me build a personal connection with students and work with their individual learning preferences. In addition to tutoring, I teach at a private school focusing on students with learning differences (including gifted students.)
My other professional work is in environmental policy; I have an MA in the subject and a background in economics, statistics and academic research.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
Take the time to get to know each student's learning style, challenges, and interests at the beginning, as it will pay off.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In our first meeting, I'll go over your goals for the class - do you just want to pass, hit a target score, or improve your grade by a certain amount? We'll then work out a study plan to help you hit that goal in the allotted time. I'll also recommend additional resources based on where you most want/need to focus.
