I am excited to help students achieve and reach their full potential. I am a certified teacher with numerous years of teaching and tutoring experience. Additionally, I have a Masters degree in Education from Valdosta State University. I believe all students are capable of learning and succeeding. My experience includes working with students on various cognitive levels, including those on or below grade level. I have extensive experience working with students with disabilities. What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During the first session, I will get to know the student and build rapport. I will also conduct informal assessments in order to get an idea of the student's strengths and weaknesses.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I help students stay motivated by using lessons that are engaging and individualized for the student.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would use informal mini assessments and self-checks to be sure a student understands the material.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I evaluate a student's needs based on information provided from formal and informal assessments. I also review work samples to determine strengths and weaknesses.
