I graduated from Syracuse University with a dual major in Public Communications and Italian Language & Culture. Since graduating, I have been teaching and mentoring students of all ages. In New York City, I taught English to classes of 20-30 students. I subsequently worked for an English school abroad in South America, where I taught both private and group lessons.
I use the communicative approach in my teaching so that there is a steady dialogue between teacher and student. I find it’s important for a teacher to gauge where the student is in the material and match their progress in order to help push them to the next step. Patience and encouragement are two of the most important virtues in a teacher, and I try to embody that in my lessons.
As a Los Angeles transplant, I have quickly made LA a second home for myself. I enjoy hiking and going to the beach, which are both still novelties for me, coming from New York. I work in television and am a huge lover of TV and film. I am involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles and am a mentor to a “little brother” who is currently in 4th grade.
