I am currently a junior at the Colorado School of Mines pursuing a bachelors in petroleum engineering. My time at Mines has given me an exceptional background in math, a background which gives me the confidence to teach math subjects that include: pre-calculus, pre-algebra, trigonometry, geometry, algebra 1-4, and calculus 1. My favorite subjects to tutor are algebra and calculus, mainly because these subjects are used extensively in engineering, and are great tools in solving real world problems. As a current college student, I am constantly helping my peers in their courses, as well as being helped by friends and peers myself. The most important thing this has taught me, aside from tutoring skills, is that everybody has a different way of learning that works best for them. This is what I base my tutoring philosophy on, which is finding out how YOU learn best, and tailoring my teaching style based your learning style. My time as a college student has also taught me that knowing the 'why' behind the 'how' is extremely important in understanding and mastering difficult subjects. Making sure a student has full understanding of the subject matter is a goal I strive to meet with everyone I help tutor.
Living in Golden, CO enables me to enjoy my free time doing outdoor activities. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and almost any other activity that involves being in the mountains. I hope to hike the entirety of the Colorado Trail soon after I graduate and travel the world as much as I can. I also enjoy playing videos games, and hanging out with friends whenever the opportunity arises.
