I'm a graduate of Columbia University with a major in English. I taught English, history, and SAT prep for seven years at an elite school in Chicago, where many of my students went on to the Ivy League and other outstanding colleges. Although I enjoyed classroom work, I eventually decided to begin my career as a writer, while still continuing to work with young people on a one-on-one basis as a tutor.
I've now written, edited, or "ghostwritten" more than 50 books for major publishers, many in collaboration with well-authorities in science, business, sports, and medicine. I've learned a great deal about writing and critical reading. I love to share what I've learned with students who need to express their thoughts and feelings clearly and convincingly. The ability to do that is of course very important in college application essays and written assignments.
As a tutor, I've worked one-on-one with students from eighth through twelfth grade in English literature, American and world history, writing, test preparation, and college application essays. My goal is for students to feel completely confident and totally prepared based on our work together. I know how to help them reach that goal, and I love to see it happen.
