In raising my two children (who are now in college), I have gained valuable experience in working with adolescents of varying personality and ability. Both my sons took numerous math and physics courses in high school (including 3 AP courses), and I often helped them with their schoolwork. In helping them I learned to be patient, and that understanding of math and physics often requires a calm, deliberate approach.
I myself have often struggled with school work, and can appreciate and understand the difficulties many students encounter.
I try to present the material from different viewpoints, in different ways, in order to best find one that connects with the student.
