Teaching is a true passion I have. My educational experiences have given me opportunities to explore various types of schools from urban to rural, public and private. I recently taught in Dominica and received a better appreciation for education while abroad in a third world country. In Dominica, I worked with a culturally diverse group of students and initiated community based projects to better the nation. Other teaching experiences were in a charter school and a public school where I co-taught 40 students in one classroom.

I received my education from the University of Florida and majored in Psychology. After graduation, I decided to start substitute teaching and really enjoyed it. I then pursued my Masters in Teaching at the University of South Florida and graduated. I want to tutor because I know the challenges in the classroom and sometime the teacher's methods don't always align with student thinking which can be a challenge on both ends. I love tutoring math and science but really like all subjects!

Outside of education I enjoy yoga and I actually initiated a yoga class for students while in Dominica. I also am interested in photography and the outdoors. I love adventure!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe all students should be taught to their own learning style, and it is the teacher's job to determine that. Students should be taught off their prior knowledge in order to captivate their interest and engage them in the topics they are learning.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Keeping the lessons fun and inspiring!
