I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of California, Irvine in Computer Science and Engineering. I have tutored students in elementary and middle school before, primarily in mathematics, English, and Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is math because I personally enjoy math and have been both a tutor and a tutee for this subject, many times. I believe that the main barrier children face as they learn is a combination of lack of interest and lack of confidence. However, once a student builds confidence, interest will naturally increase as people tend to enjoy things they feel that they're good at. I believe the best way to learn effectively is to initially latch onto a subject by gaining confidence from smaller issues within the same subject and then building one's interest from there onwards.
My favorite hobbies are cooking, working out, listening to music, hanging out with friends, shopping, watching TV, and trying new things! As a student, I know how it feels to struggle in classes, and I know how frustrating it can be - however, tutors have helped me in the past reach academic heights I didn't know I could reach, and I only want to spread that back. I'd like for the tutoring session to not just help you get an A, but to inspire you to aim higher as well, as my tutors have inspired me in the past.
