I recently graduated from UW-Madison where I studied Spanish, Chicano & Latino Studies, and Gender & Women's Studies. I currently work as a Bilingual Pre-K Teacher in the Verona School District where I conduct lessons in Spanish for Spanish-speaking students in order to prepare them for dual-immersion in Kindergarten. I am in constant contact with families in order to improve family relationships with the school and to improve the quality of education being provided for the students. My classroom focuses on celebrating Latino culture and developing cultural identity during first exposure to the education system. I have had a lot of a experience as a tutor and a mentor, working with a wide range of students. In high school I was a "Link Leader" who mentored incoming Freshman, in college I was a mentor and tutor for Latino students a middle school and high school in Madison, WI and I also occasionally tutored a high school Freshman in Spanish I. I also have experience working with English Language Learners. I lived in Lima, Peru for 5 months where I studied various subjects at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. While in Lima, I had the opportunity to visit a school and review English lessons with students (Kindergarten through 4th grade).
