I graduated from Queens College where I received my B.A. in Economics. I also attended Brooklyn Technical High School which of course is a Specialized High School! I tutor all subjects including test prep i.e the SHSAT& HSPT. My favorite subject to tutor is math because I love solving problems and there is always a right answer! I believe that every student has their own way of understanding and learning different concepts. I ask questions and listen to my students so I can pinpoint the problem areas. To learn well you have to maintain a positive attitude and be curious! In my spare time, I dance salsa, play volleyball, run and enjoy trying new things whether it be food or a new sport or skill!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Ask questions and stay curious!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the student's learning habits.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Talk about a short-term goal they might have regarding the subject. It can be anywhere from acing the next test to getting an A in the class.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try different approaches and really break down the material. Start from A and finish when they're comfortable at Z.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I recommend they read more. The more you read, the easier it is to find the main idea.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I ask the student what thoughts comes to mind when they view the subject material. It helps me see how they view the material, which then helps me find the simplest way to teach the student.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Give them real-world examples. Students struggle when they can't relate.
