I recently (May 2015) graduated from the University of Minnesota Chemistry Department with Bachelors degree in Chemistry. I have extensive tutoring experience at both the college and in high school level. For a period of one and half years, I worked at Minneapolis Community and Technical College as a tutor for Chemistry, Math, Arabic and English. I transferred to the University of Minnesota Twin cities where I continued working as a tutor for another 2 years. I volunteered at Franklin Library where I tutored high school and adult students.
My favorite subjects to tutor are Chemistry, Math and the Arabic language. I can also tutor Somali language.
My teaching philosophy is practice because Math and Chemistry require lots of problem solving. I always let the student drive the session and do most of the talking and discussion. If the student does not know a problem, I do paraphrasing and ask question in a different way. This helps many students. I also try to make the subject very interesting, and I give out real life applications of the subject.
