I am here to help, encourage, and guide you through the world of mathematics and physics. I recently graduated from Colorado University Boulder with a Physics degree and want to put it good use! I tutor in all math up to Differential Equations and physics. My favorite subject to tutor is physics because it requires the perfect combination of creativity and intelligence. Let me know if you need help conquering calculus as well.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Anybody can learn anything!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session, I would introduce myself and then immediately ask them where their textbook is. I feel that the required text for each section is the most valuable tool the student and tutor have at their disposal.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can show them the ways to utilize their class notes and required reading, as they always have access to those resources.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would help a student stay motivated by showing them how far they have come already and how little they have left to go.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Usually when there is difficulty with a skill or concept it is because the foundations of the new information are not strong (like doing calculus without knowing algebra). I would seek to identify the issues in the student's foundation.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I would tell them it is important to slow down when reading the problem.
