With a PhD in anthropology, I am well versed in the social sciences. I am also fluent in Spanish, having lived in Spain, Ecuador, and Peru for seven years. My earliest tutoring experiences involved helping California high school students to improve their Spanish, and today I have more than eight years of teaching and tutoring experience in foreign and domestic classrooms. I am an ESL certified instructor, and have taught English to business professionals and high school and university students in Ecuador and Peru. I have also tutored K-6th English language learners in California in math and reading, and I have mentored undergraduates in cultural, biological, and development anthropology at the University of Georgia. I am an enthusiastic learner and enjoy helping students succeed, whether by strengthening their knowledge, study habits, or organizational skills. I typically utilize active learning as a fun and effective way to engage students, but am trained in various methods, allowing me to tailor my approach to each student's preferred style and needs. In my free time I like to swim, read, and spend time outdoors.
