I love teaching and tutoring English. Anything that has to do with writing, comprehension, and editing I can help you with. I have worked in public schools, private schools, and camp settings. I love working with youth, and find it very rewarding to help them achieve their goals. I currently have a B.A. in English Literature from San Francisco State University, and am excited to pass on some of my knowledge to you.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Everyone is different; it is important to find what works for you and to go with it.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would learn what their goals are academically and in life. I'd let them know a little about myself and how I can help them achieve their academic goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would try to encourage them to find what really interests them so they are excited about learning.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

It is important to break things into pieces when it comes to comprehension. Trying to understand a small section is a lot easier than trying to understand a large section. Then, it's about putting it all together and voila!
