I am a graduate of UC Santa Cruz where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I was employed by the university for over a year to tutor students and to lead study groups in multiple science courses. Since graduation, I have worked as a teaching assistant for immunology, and am currently doing research in an immunology lab at UCSC.
My favorite subject to tutor is biology, especially molecular biology, as I find this microscopic and complex world captivating, and I would love to work together to spark interest in this subject as well. I am very patient, and I enjoy working with students to piece together concepts and make subjects click for them. I understand that every student has a different personality and learning styles, so I tailor my explanations and methods of teaching to match each student. Helping students to advance their knowledge and to overcome academic hardships and obstacles is a passion for me. I care about my student's progress. Not only do I care about he/she gaining a better understanding of the material in front of him/her, I also care about teaching the student how to learn as well, so he/she can grow more independent as learners and use these skills in other subjects too.
Outside of academia, I enjoy rock climbing, surfing, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
