I believe that any student is capable of achieving at a high level provided the right support and instruction and as long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to achieve and maintain their learning. I also believe that fundamental math skills must be mastered all along the way in order to continue progressing successfully at each successive level.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I pride myself in helping students reach proficiency in math and in learning and easily recalling what they have learned. I've taught and tutored high school math in California for 14 years, was teacher of the year and math department chair for 4 years, and spearheaded several innovative programs for multiple schools to help struggling students improve the speed and proficiency of their learning. I am an excellent tutor because I offer multiple approaches to each subject with the goal of long term retention and mastery.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would determine the long and/or short terms goals of the student and/or parent and set up a plan to achieve those goals. I would then efficiently work towards reaching those goals in the time the student and/or parent is willing to commit to the same.
