I am a senior student athlete at Stanford University majoring in Finance. I have been tutoring and coaching for the last 6 years, and immensely enjoy helping students become lifelong learners. My tutoring style is laid back, and I try to create a low pressure atmosphere in which the student can focus all of his/her attention on learning. I like to give students the tools to work through problems by themselves, so they are prepared for test taking environments. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, surfing, and hanging out at the beach!

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I enjoy letting students find out answers on their own, while I correct mistakes along the way. I believe that learning is done through trial and error, not rote memorization. Failing makes a student recognize his/her misunderstandings of a subject and recognize the error so it doesn't happen again.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In my first session with a student, I like to establish a baseline of the student's aptitude with the subject. Ideally, before the first session, I will have the student work through some practice problems so I can identify where his/her strengths and weaknesses lie. Using that information, I will cater the tutoring session to the personal needs and learning style of that student.
