Hi there! I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Gettysburg College and my Master of Science in Education at Hofstra University. I have extensive experience working with students to help them improve their grades in certain subjects and raise their scores on standardized assessments. I specialize in tutoring math and science. I focus on algebra and pre-algebra specifically, as well as ACT and SAT math. I also tutor the ACT science section and I am certified in Biology and have a lot of experience tutoring students for the Living Environment Regents. As a middle school science teacher, I am also familiar with the topics that appear on the NYS 8th Grade Assessment. I personally enjoy tutoring biology, as I find the connection between all organisms very fascinating and interesting!
I am a firm believer in the constructivist theory, where students construct their own knowledge. When students take ownership of their learning, they construct their own ideas and this process helps make learning a long-lasting endeavor. I act as a guide with students playing a very active role in our sessions.
I enjoy your music and play the trombone in several musical groups! I also enjoy discussing politics and I love a great debate! Astronomy is also a subject I find interesting and I am always trying to keep up with new discoveries!
