How can you help a student become an independent learner?
As a teacher, it's highly important that you teach students to search out their own answers. This means asking guiding questions that lead them to the answer, but does not give them the answer. I allow them to struggle and let them work through it so when they get it, they know they did it on their own.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
When it comes to motivation, a student has to want to earn it and learn it. So it would be my job to tap into that desire and make it relevant to them by helping them see a topic's importance.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Usually I will try some different methods. If one way doesn't work, then I will try a new approach, like linking it to a real-life situation, getting something they can put their hands on to understand, or playing a game that helps them see it in a new way.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
This is something teachers face a lot today. But what I have seen in my own life is to find something they like, such as mysteries or solving cases, and bring books that match that. I help them read, it and then afterwards ask them questions about the reading to help them retain it and build confidence at the same time.
