I am a graduate of the University of Virginia. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysics with the highest distinction. In the Fall of 2015, I plan to begin pursuing a PhD in Astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a student, I have always had a passion for helping my peers especially in the fields of Math and Science. I discovered that I had a talent for breaking down the complex and abstract concepts presented in these subjects into simpler terms. As an undergraduate, I worked for a year as a teaching assistant for an introductory college physics course where I taught and mentored fellow undergraduates. In addition, I worked for a year with Cavalier Academic Support Team where I would lead weekly tutoring sessions with underclassmen athletes enrolled in Math, Astronomy, and Physics courses at UVA. In these sessions, I would present the material in a new light with comparisons, graphics, and detailed explanations to ensure the understanding of my students. As a tutor, I would bring my eagerness and enthusiasm to my work in order to guide the student to understanding and clarify any confusion on the subject. I am not here just to hand out the answers to questions but to empower students to know how to answer the questions on their own in the future. Outside of academia, I enjoy hiking, longboarding, reading science fiction, and attending concerts.
