I grew up in Northern New Jersey, about 40 minutes outside of New York City. As a youngster, I was at my happiest plopped down in front of a makeshift workbench in my basement, taking apart radios and (not quite) putting them back together. Ask me about the time I blew the power out trying to build a telegraph in my attic! After somehow making it through childhood without electrocuting myself, I attended high school at The Pingry School, where my curiosity was naturally swept up by Math and Physics. This would eventually lead to my earliest experiences with tutoring - using pictures and mnemonic devices to understand some of the heavier concepts myself, and subsequently sharing those with other students. My academic studies ultimately led me to Dartmouth College. Finding myself enthralled with both the creative capabilities as well as the underlying technical affordances of Computer Science, I petitioned for a custom major incorporating the two. In the spring of 2014, I graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in Digital Arts.
I think curiosity and excitement about any subject, from the colors of the rainbow to quantum physics, are accessible to anyone and everyone. It's simply a matter of approach. I believe that patience and understanding can come together to create the sort of tutor-student connection where any topic can be made user-friendly, and no subject area is too tough to tackle. Except time travel (only for now, of course).
I'm happy to help however I can with Algebra, Geometry and SAT prep. Let's get started!
