I am graduate student at California State University Long Beach, where I studied history. I have my Bachelors of Arts degree in history with and emphasis in the history of the United States, Modern Europe, and Latin America. My graduate program emphasis is on modern Europe and the modern world.
As an historian I have been forced to carefully hone a number of academic abilities. First, and foremost, I have worked very hard to learn how to write effectively. Writing did not come naturally for me, but I learned through many hard hours of practice how to succeed as a writer. Because of all of this hard work, I understand exactly how to write well. Moreover, I can precisely explain my thought process. I can, therefore, teach you how to improve your writing. Writing is a skill, and it can be taught.
Studying history has also taught me how to read efficiently and effectively. This too can be taught. I can teach students how to read carefully and with purpose, and how to take good notes on their reading.
Public speaking is another essential skill my discipline has taught me. I understand what it takes to stand in front of a room of people, take control, and make your voice heard. In fact, I regularly work as a professional public speaker.
Finally, I am successful student, but only because I have learned, through much trial and error, what it takes to succeed. I can help you avoid the errors and jump straight to success.
