I received by bachelors degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I am currently taking a year off before I continue my education in dental school. As a student, I have found that the best way to learn the material presented is by being able to teach it to someone else. This is the way I learned a lot of my material through out my undergraduate education. When I was in high school I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Currently I help my sister who is in high school study for her various tests, including her AP tests. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, with my degree I am most comfortable tutoring the variety of science courses including but not limited to: biology, physiology, microbiology, immunology, endocrinology. I also am able to tutor various math classes like pre-algebra and algebra, as well as elementary and middle school math. My favorite subjects to tutor are the biological sciences, I have always been intrigued with how the human body operates. My teaching style is by encouraging students to do many practice problems, especially with math subjects. I like to watch their process of figuring out a problem and help them through it when they get stuck. When it comes to science subjects I think the best way to learn the material is by creating organized study guides/flow charts/tables so it is easier to see the information. I am a firm believer that when information is put forward in many different ways, it is easier to pick up on details and learn the information. After all, practice makes perfect! Outside of academics I love being outdoors. My whole life I have played soccer, I currently play for an indoor league. I also enjoy adventures such as exploring different hiking trails, biking, reading, and crafts.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I truly know when a student knows something when they know the material enough to teach me!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
First, I like to get an idea of what the student knows. Next, I will ask how they feel they learn the best. This way, I can blend my teaching style with their learning style. Then, we can look at the material they brought!
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I don't only want to help the student learn the material but also help them learn the best ways to study and retain the information!
