I am an aspiring teacher in Southern California. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from California State University of Monterey Bay with a concentration in teacher preparation. After graduation, I applied to California State University of Long Beach where I am currently finishing the Single Subject Credential Program. Through high school and college, I volunteered with different tutoring/mentoring associations with age levels from elementary to adult continuation school. My favorite age group to teach is high school because that is when the content becomes alive for the students. In Biology, and other Life Sciences, the content becomes applicable to the students' lives in a way that allows them to delve deeper into subjects they had no idea they liked. My teaching style is unique in that I have been trained in both traditional teaching styles and the new Common Core/Next Generation Science styles and have found what I find effective from each one. My hobbies include gardening, hiking, cycling and tinkering with mechanics.
