I am a graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder, where I received my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History and Studio Arts. I also recently received my Master of Arts (M.A.) in History (with a focus on medieval European history) from Princeton University, and I am currently in the dissertation-writing phase of a Ph.D. in History also from Princeton.
I grew up in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado, where I developed a deep passion for being outdoors, hiking, and camping. Once I graduated from CU-Boulder, I moved to New York City for a summer to intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and fell in love with museum work as well as the city lifestyle. Shortly after my summer in NYC, I started my graduate program at Princeton. In addition to taking classes, I also volunteered as an instructor for Princeton's Prison Teaching Initiative and through this program, I taught an accredited college-level English composition course for two semesters to young men in prison working toward Associate's Degrees while incarcerated. I really enjoyed helping these passionate students work on their writing and reading skills to better themselves and their circumstances and it was incredibly rewarding to see their progress over time. As a student of the humanities myself, I am a true believer in the significant role the arts and humanities have in our educational system and the importance of reading, writing, and critical thinking in a student's life, even outside of school. Thus, I am passionate about tutoring in English (writing and reading), History, and Art History/Studio Art, and these are the subjects I feel most comfortable with based on my own educational background as well.
In my spare time, I like to read, cook and bake, paint and draw, nap with my cat, spend time outside (and out in the great city of Philadelphia!), and play pool (billiards).
